Historical Boat Trip
Discover the rich history of Velfjord with our guided boat tours. History comes alive when told by a local who grew up down the road. Velfjord has 7 side fjords and our trip takes us to two of them. In Okfjord we talk about hunting, our heritage, and how we respect and manage the environment. If you are lucky you may spot a moose or two.
Afterwards we head over to Storfjord stopping first at Hesand where the old graveyard is still in use. We go by the old schoolhouse at Engelsnes where the kids from the surrounding farms went to school. You still see restored homes like Fornes and Storfjordbotn and we talk about what life was like back then.
There is a fish farm in the fjord and we talk about the fishing culture, past and present, and its impact on the community. You can challenge your knowledge about how this industry functions. What do the salmon eat? How fast do they grow?
At the bottom of the fjord we take a coffee and listen to the birds and other natural sounds (no cellphone coverage here)

Guided Fishing Trips
Fishing has long been the lifeblood and livelihood for the people of Helgeland. Today fishing has become more of a hobby than a way of life. Still there is plenty of fish to be had in Velfjorden and with us you can either book a tour and we will take you to the best places or fish right off harbour.
When going out on the fjord, whether with nets or poles, you never know what you might get. One day it could be tons of cod and the next day nothing. If you are lucky you get halibut. And if you are very lucky you get a "breiflabb", a wide-mouthed angler type fish.
